Tonight I had my first tennis lesson.
I was actually very nervous earlier today about the lesson and almost tried to talk myself out of going. I guess I was afraid of making a fool of myself.
I dug deep and found my confidence and approached the court with sweaty palms and a churning stomach. I know. Full-on ridiculousness.
I was greeted by four lovely women. Four very warm, friendly, inviting women, who assured me that I was in the right place and would be just fine. Two more women came right before the lesson started and were equally friendly. It was a very nice group of women.
The instructor was very kind. Definitely very patient with all of us. He was very complimentary as we hacked and whacked our way through the lesson. I am definitely all about wanting to learn proper form so as not to develop bad habits that I need to break. I listened intently. I got over myself and I hit the ball. I did okay. I might have done even better than okay. The instructor asked me if I was sure I never had never taken lessons before -- he might have been just sucking up to keep me coming back, but either way, I am going to take it as a compliment.
I had a ton of fun and I cannot wait for my next lesson. And man, some of those ladies have some super cute outfits!!! Who knew?...

YAY! Glad you had some fun!
I know I told you tennis is big here. Looking good while playing tennis seems to also be a big deal. Those outfits are cute. Sometimes I think that maybe I should just parade around town looking like I play tennis. The only problem is then I would have more guilt for not *really* being a player. Instead I choose to look like a runner ... a sweaty one most of the time.
So glad you had fun!!!
tennis is a great family sport...none of us is in a league or anything, but we do play during the summer and on vacations.
good for you for taking lessons!
Yeah they do! When I come visit you can teach me how to play and then we can play doubles! ; )
Ps: I am very proud of you. Makes me want to try something new.
Oh my, how exciting. I love that you got out there. And you could have such fun finding cute tennis outfits.
Keep us posted.
