Start me up.

The other morning while waiting for the coffee maker to finish brewing I found myself looking around for my new favorite coffee mug.

I couldn't help but wonder why it is that I find myself reaching for that same cup over and over again, while an entire shelf dedicated to coffee mugs just sits.

Favorite mugs have come and gone.

Some have met an untimely death in the dishwasher or suffered a painful ending, death by floor or counter top. Some have been left behind in office cubicles of days gone by. Some have even been lent out never to have been returned. Sniff. Sniff.

But one thing always holds true. My favorite mugs have gotten me through a lot. Rough mornings, good mornings, late nights, sleepy afternoons, lots of gabs with good friends.

Being the sentimental that I am, I thought I'd share a picture of my new favorite mug.

I'm not sure why I like it so well.

Is it the sweet person who gave it to me? Is it because it's the perfect size for the perfect blending of coffee and half-n-half? Is it the rotund handle that fits just right? Is it because it happens to be in Buckeye colors?

May be it's a little of all of that.

While browsing online I also came across a few other mugs that struck my fancy.

Like this one.
The old tried and true Corelle mug.

It reminds me of home. For as long as I can remember my Mom and Dad have had Corelleware. I grew up in a house where it wasn't a crime to brew a pot of coffee in the middle of the afternoon. I love that.

Then I found these cute striped mugs. They remind me of Easter eggs. In fact, those might just be bunny ears peeking out.
And the Hello Kitty mugs.
I mean, who doesn't love the Kitty?

Then I found this one, which could totally be photo-shopped, but I thought it was very creative and I'm sure would make your coffee taste even more heavenly.
And these made me laugh, cause we all know that really, when we're treating ourselves to a cup of overpriced coffee, it makes us feel like we're getting something really special when we order a "tall" and "grande."
So, do you have a favorite mug that you just can't live without? Or one that you've got a sentimental attachment to with a great story behind it? Or are you not a coffee drinker and just can't relate? (((shudder!!!))))

Brace yourself . . . I don't drink coffee! I do like that coffee bean mug, though.

I love my giant mugs that we got in Disney a few years back. We have a Minnie, mickey, Goofey, and Donald one. They show the vintage characters ... which I love. The mug is the perfect size for my Keurig machine. I'm picky when it comes to the thickness of a mug. If it is too thick, then I may just dribble some of the coffee and nobody wants to see that. I also don't like a thin mug because then it feels like I am drinking coffee from a glass.

FUn post!

I'm like you. I grab the same coffee mug each morning. My favorite is technically a travel mug, but it's made of ceramic, so I use it as an every day mug. It holds lots of coffee and feels good in my hand.

Yep. I drink from only a couple mugs -- although I just added one recently that is more frilly to make up for the lack of frills in my house. ;) I actually blogged about my coffee mugs two years ago about this time. (Coffee and winter must be an obsession.) Drinking out of the middle one now. http://aleeinthewoudes.wordpress.com/2007/02/13/ode-to-my-coffee-cup/
